Simply this … the dreams of too many women get lost among the demands of a career, family and the distractions of modern life. Caught up in the traditional business model which is based on competition, it’s difficult to bring their strength of community building and cooperative effort to the table.
We’re looking for a new business model based on cooperation and relationship building. A way of being in business that encourages dreams and a big vision, then provides an opportunity to create it. Finally it must reward honest, consistent effort. In other words, it lets a woman define success for herself and more importantly, provides a vehicle to actually attain it.
However, moving to a new model also requires getting out of your comfort zone and pushing beyond limiting beliefs. There must be a commitment to personal growth, which isn’t always easy. You have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
That’s where I come in.
After more than twenty years in the corporate world as a successful business consultant, I realized my life was completely out of balance. I longed for time to write, to paint and generally live a more creative life but there were too many things competing for my time and attention.
So I finally did the only crazy thing I could do. I broke out of my ‘Golden Handcuffs”, left my consulting practice behind and went in search of success on my own terms.
Soon after, I earned my coaching certification and completed leadership development training and opened my practice as a life coach. I worked with other business women like myself. And discovered that, despite my experience and training, I had no real answers for them when they felt overwhelmed by the demands of business and life.
It wasn’t until I found a new business model that I was finally able to attain the work/life balance and success I’d been seeking. Now, I am a published writer, an accomplished public speaker and a visual artist. This new paradigm gives me the time and money freedom to live my dreams. It also gives me the opportunity to use my training as a coach to help other women find their own version of success.
This blog allows me to share what I’ve learned along the way, which is my long answer to, “Why Success for Women?”
It’s because I want you to have your dreams, too. The world needs them.
